Italy a favorite winter destination for Germans, French and Japanese

Foreign tourist arrivals are set to grow by 1% for the winter season spanning November 2106 to April 2017, while overnight stays are going to increase by 1.4 percentage points.

In turn, 2016 is expected to show an even higher increase in percentage terms compared to the previous year (+4.3%), closing with an estimated 62.2 million arrivals.

Our tourist attractions’ keenest aficionados in 2017, should continue to be central Europeans, with 22.9 million arrivals (2.1% more than the current year). Tourists from outside Europe, though, will also perform extremely well, a whopping 4.6% more than in 2016 for a total of 10.3 million arrivals.
